Katherine McDonough

Mrs. McDonough's Class

Language Arts –  We are now up to reading 30 minutes in a row with no or very little interruptions.  We are also finishing and starting new chapter books in small groups.  The children are recording them on Seesaw.  I hope you continue to see these summaries and excerpts.  The children love to post!

We are also continuing to work on context clues in our chapter books.  There are some tough vocabulary words and many of these books are written about past events with lots of history.  Similes, metaphors, and idioms are something we continue to work on and understand.  Using these also helps create better writers.  Ask them about them.  They are a lot of fun to figure out and use!

Biographies –We continue to edit and work on our Living Musuem presentations.  Remember to try and save the date! Tuesday, May 7th, 2:05-2:35 in the MPR.  I will send more information as we get closer to the date.

SPRING SING:  Thursday, May 9th 1:00-1:30 in GYM

Writing: We are wrapping up our Spring Break pieces and will be published outside our room for OPEN HOUSE/BRAG NIGHT.

Cursive- We have finished every letter.  We are now practicing.  They did a great job learning and practicing.  Now…if you don’t use it, you lose it!  Keep encouraging them to use it at home especially with their spelling words!

Math- We are wrapping up Module 6 and jumping right into Module 8 using geometry.  We will continue to practice our facts too!  Keep up the great work!

Spelling- Test will be next Friday!
