Week of September 6
Dear Lincoln Families,

The safety and security of our students remain our school's top priority. Illinois State Law requires schools to conduct fire evacuation drills, bus evacuation drills, law enforcement drills to address a lockdown, and severe weather drills. Each building conducts these safety drills throughout the year to ensure our students and staff know the procedures in the event of an emergency. Practice and preparation are key to all safety response procedures and aligned with best practices according to local, state, and federal agencies. This week we will have a fire DRILL to practice with all students and staff.
D205 Educational Assistant Job Fair
BAND AND ORCHESTRA
D205 is excited about the return of the Beginning Band and Orchestra! All D205 4th and 5th-grade students are eligible to join. More information about the program and how to register are available HERE.
5th Grade Students at Bryan Middle School took both the ELA and Math MAP test last week. Results will be sent home at the end of September. Teachers will use information from the results to help guide instruction for students. This test will now be administered 3 times a year instead of only in the Fall.
FOUNTAS AND PINNELL (F&P) TESTING
Teachers are currently F&P testing to get a better idea of where students reading needs are. A level is a teaching tool that we use to help guide our instruction and to group students. Students are not defined by their level nor do we require students to read books at their level during independent reading.
Please refer to the BMS lunch menu on our website under Parent/Student Quick Links.
- Students should arrive no earlier than 8:00 as we do not have supervision outside prior to then. We are noticing that a group of students is arriving about 7:45 each morning and they are not supervised until 8.
- Students enter the building at 8:05 with instruction starting at 8:15 am.
HEALTH & SAFETY REMINDER
We are so excited to have your students back in school in person, 5 days a week! As a reminder, when students and adults come to school, everyone will wear a face mask covering their nose and mouth. We always have extras on hand, and if your student needs support, we are happy to provide that so that everyone can be safe and healthy. We regularly provide breaks from masks during the day, and our students don’t have to wear masks when they go outside.
Michelle Pinedo is our school nurse and her email is Mpinedo@elmhurst205.org. Please reach out if you have any questions!
If your student is going to be absent for 3 or more consecutive days or for a non-school-sponsored activity(hockey, soccer, dance, etc.) or vacation, please use the pre-planned absence form. You can find this linked on our website under absences. Please complete all three sections of the form and return to the nurse.
