Lincoln PTA Directory

This is a brief reminder that  the Lincoln PTA Directory has been created for your personal use only and should never be used for solicitation purposes.  The Directory and its contents may not be used in connection with any commercial, political or not-for-profit endeavors.

The Lincoln PTA publishes the Directory for the exclusive use of the parents, students, teachers and staff at Lincoln Elementary to encourage better communication between our Lincoln families.

Picture your Kids Here

Did you capture some great photos from any of our PTA events this year?

Would you like to see your kids on the site promoting our events?

If so, e-mail the pics to us and we'll try to add them to one of our current or future slide shows.

We're looking for group shots showing your kids enjoying the PTA events. (No photos of a single child please.)

PTA: Everyone Benefits

More than 30 years of research shows that children do better when their parents are involved both at home and at school.  Grades are higher.  Test scores rise.  Self-esteem grows.  Schools improve.

You can make these outcomes a reality for your child and your school by being involved in PTA.  Everyone benefits from your involvement:

♦ Be in the know - PTA helps you keep up with what's happening at Lincoln and what you can do to make a difference.

♦ Access great resources - PTA is a great resource for schools and parents alike.

♦ Make connections - Read the e-mails, browse the website, attend the meetings and you're connecting with others who share your concern for our children and their education.  PTA is a great way to meet others and build friendships.

♦ Hone your skills - In PTA you'll have the opportunity to use what you know, try new things, and develop your skills.

♦ Speak up - PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas.  Advocate for your child and all children at Lincoln School.

♦ Be part of the solution - You can play a part in improving programs we offer at Lincoln.

♦ Be a role model for your child - You will show your child how much you value education and teach them about giving back to others.

National Geographic Giant Traveling Map of Asia

Lincoln families are invited to see The National Geographic Giant Traveling Map of Asia on Saturday, January 28th at 10:00am.

Edison Elementary School
246 Fair
Elmhurst, Illinois

The Map offers students wide and varied Explorations across the continent, an expanse encompassing almost thirty percent of the Earth’s total land mass. They may brave Arctic tundra, walk the Gobi Desert, and visit the highest and lowest places on Earth. Or they may explore the amazing diversity of human cultures found in Asia’s 47 countries. Whether it’s the birthplace of civilization, nomadic peoples, rainforest tribes, or the world’s fastest growing economies, there is much to explore and learn about on this giant map. The map is 26’ x 33’ and comes with a trunk of rich activities, games, props and educational resources.

We are inviting your students to come and explore Asia. They will have the opportunity to explore the continent using educationally powerful and fun activities.

See the Asia Map document for full details.

1      School

4      Intersections - all very busy

600+  Students - arriving and departing at the same time

20    Fifth Graders - trying to safely cross the children

40    Parent Patrol Shifts - each week for 15 minutes a day to help the children

*27* Corners - per week have NO PARENT PATROL.

Please consider volunteering!

What does this mean to you? This means that a crew of 10 and 11 year old children is out there alone at our busy corners every single day trying to help your child cross our incredibly busy streets safely without the guidance and assistance of an adult.

We’d like more children to walk to school to minimize the traffic congestion, but we’d also like more parents to step up and volunteer to work a single 15 minute shift each week to help children cross the street.

Have we got your attention??  If you’d like to find out more information about how you can help with Parent Patrol, please CLICK HERE .
