Lincoln Elementary School

Walk and Bike to School

Students are encouraged to walk or bike to school to promote fitness and to reduce automobile congestion around the school.  Walkers and Bikers will receive a charm to recognize their participation.  As in previous years, charms will be distributed at each street corner every Wednesday morning EXCEPT Late Start days.  In addition, PM Kindergartners can earn charms when they arrive to school at noon.  Each student will also be provided one chain to collect the charms.

As your student prepares to walk or bike, please keep in mind the following tips:

  1. Please reference our Safe Routes map for pedestrian safety.
  2. Students are encouraged to wear helmets when biking.
  3. Please remind your student that they must walk their bikes on school property.
  4. Bikes should be locked up on the bike racks located on the east side of the blacktop.
  5. Dogs are not allowed on school property during drop-off and pick-up.  Parents walking with dogs are asked to stand across the street.

Volunteers needed!!  We are still in need of several volunteers to help distribute charms to walkers and bikers. This is a fun opportunity for parents, Lincoln students, and younger siblings to hand out charms to friends as they come to school.  The time commitment is minimal (7:55-8:15am) for a few Wednesdays each school year. We also have afternoon Kindergarten slots available (11:50-12:05).  If you have any questions or if you would like to volunteer to hand out charms to Walker and Bikers, please contact Celia Grebs (celiagrebs@gmail.com) or Patty Giobbi (pgiobbi22@gmail.com).
