Dear SUPER Lincoln Families,

SUPER Thank You for all the SUPER help leading up to the Referendum!! The students have started asking me lots of questions and are obviously SUPER excited. It will be an honor to work through the upcoming process together will all of you – our SUPER Lincoln Community!!

SBRs – Standards Based Report Cards
As you anticipate your child’s first standards based report card, remember that student growth will be reported on a 4-point scale.  A “3” is the expected target and means that a student is demonstrating that standard with consistency and independence.  Some of the reporting standards are “year-long” and instruction related to that standard will continue throughout the entire school year.  For those year-long standards, it is perfectly appropriate for a student not to demonstrate proficiency (a “3”) in the first Trimester.

Study Skills Club
Ms. Jessen is leading Year 2 of the Lincoln Study Skills Club, funded by the D205 Foundation. The Club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting today, November 8 from 3:05-4pm. Students may attend one or both days and will meet in Ms. Jessen’s room. The time will be spent practicing foundational skills such as multiplication facts, math word problems, reading comprehension, and executive functioning. If you have any further questions or feel your child would benefit from the Club, please reach out to Ms. Bridget Jessen at bjessen@elmhurst205.org, or call and leave a message at 630-834-4548 ext. 6857.

Service Project for Lincoln Students - Ronald McDonald House
Little things can make a difference! Several Lincoln students met over the summer and planned a pop tab collection fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House at Loyola in Maywood.  Each Lincoln classroom has a pop tab collection container decorated by a student.  Throughout the school year, the students will be collecting and weighing the pop tabs to see if they can reach their goal of 20 pounds by Winter Break and 40 pounds by the end of the school year.  One pound of pop tabs is equal to 1,267 tabs. Please join in on the fun. Celebrate your pop tab collections on social media with #rmhccni.  To learn more about collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House, check out this site:  https://rmhccni.org/get-involved/pop-tabs/
