Hillside Car Line and Fairfield Waiting Parents
Please help our Safety Patrol and staff by staying in your cars and keeping the car line moving. Please help your child learn to open the car door, to get himself or herself into the car themselves, and to close the door themselves. Students should only enter the car on the sidewalk side, not on the street side. Please move away from the line as quickly as you can, as soon as your child is safely in your car. As we head into more difficult weather, snow, slush, rain, we will have more challenges and the more independent your child can become with this process the safer and smoother the process can be. Thank you for your help and patience!!

There is still time to submit a project to the PTA Reflections arts contest!! Did you know that ALL projects turned in will be featured in a district art show next spring at Judith B Art Gallery in downtown Elmhurst? Also, ALL students who enter a project get to enjoy a donut and bagel breakfast together at school! AND, ALL Lincoln students who turn in a project will be entered into a raffle to win a fabulous prize!

This year’s theme is “Heroes Around Me”. The six categories of entry are visual art, music composition, dance choreography, writing, film production and photography. If you'd like to submit a project in one or more of the six categories, contest rules and the entry form are on the Lincoln PTA website under Reflections. The deadline for entries is November 5th.

Service Project for Lincoln Students - Ronald McDonald House
Little things can make a difference! Several Lincoln students met over the summer and planned a pop tab collection fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House at Loyola in Maywood.  Each Lincoln classroom has a pop tab collection container decorated by a student.  Throughout the school year, the students will be collecting and weighing the pop tabs to see if they can reach their goal of 20 pounds by Winter Break and 40 pounds by the end of the school year.  One pound of pop tabs is equal to 1,267 tabs. Please join in on the fun. Celebrate your pop tab collections on social media with #rmhccni.  To learn more about collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House, check out this site:

Annual Parent Workshop
Good Fences for Good Parenting: Setting and Maintaining Healthy Boundaries with our Kids. Just like the old saying “good fences make good neighbors,” good fences also make for good parenting. In this workshop, parents will learn about the balance between “helicopter” and “free-range” parenting, and that discipline is about teaching our kids how to live their lives in healthy, safe, and productive ways. The workshop will discuss ways to help parents create limits that support children’s natural need for exploration and our natural need to protect them. From using technology and social media to maintaining emotional regulation, this workshop will be packed full of useful guidance for parenting today.

This free event will be at Sandburg Middle School - Auditorium (345 E. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, IL 60126) on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 12:30-2:30pm (Q & A 1:45-2:30pm). Reservations are not needed and light refreshments will be offered.
